Business leader of the year announced

Era 67 restaurant owners Ian Thompson and Sarah Valiquette were named winners of this year’s William “Bill” Swinimer Business Leader of the Year award for their contribution to the Orillia community on Tuesday night.

Presented every year, the award honours local business men and woman for continued support developing the local community through business and volunteer partnerships. Thompson and Valiquette won for their involvement with the Terry Fox Foundation, the Downtown Orillia Management Board, Savour Simcoe, the Mariposa Folk Festival, as well as their contributions to many other locally held events. In addition, they support mature students returning to school by sponsoring two Lakehead University Pursuance of Education bursaries.

The other nominees for this year’s award were Mark Goode, The Mortgage Man; Laura Dickson from Harvey’s Restaurant; and Ron Funnell from Sunshine 89.1 Radio.

Era 67 Fall Flavours begins on Tuesday October 25th 2011 at 5 pm. This year Lake Country’s Fall Flavours program runs until November 20th 2011. Come out and savour our delicious Fall Flavours menu specially prepared by Chef, Ian Thompson! The Spiced Pumpkin Aged Cheddar soup & Rosemary Pork Loin Chop are delicious. Ontario hothouse vine ripened tomatoes paired with mozzarina cheese topped with sweet basil oil and aged balsamic reduction.

East Coast Bay Scallop Rissotto
East Coast bay scallops complimented with local asparagus, Wellington Ontario mushroom trio garnished with rainbow of farm fresh tomatoes.

Ontario Pork Tenderloin
Ontario raised pork tenderloin served atop garlic confit Yukon Gold chive infused mashed potatoes served with a Saskatoon berry coulis and a balsamic reduction with farm fresh market vegetables.
